New Print Available "Upcountry Meeting" For the Hmong whose courage, service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
Internationally known artist Dru Blair was commissioned by a private American citizen and his wife to depict a meeting between a CIA paramilitary officer by the name of Bill Lair and a colorful Hmong leader named Vang Pao. Together they took the fight to the Pathet Lao and North Vietnamese army.
Reproduced from the original painting, "Upcountry Meeting" depicts a meeting that occurred at Lima Site 367 between CIA officer Bill Lair and General Vang Pao of the indigenous Hmong people. There were no roads to speak of in northern Laos so a series of remote landing strips were developed by Air America who flew supplies and war materiel to the villages and Vang Pao's forces. As depicted Bill Lair has just stepped off his STOL Porter operated by Air America. The meeting was one of many between Lair and Vang Pao that would ultimately forge an indigenous army in Laos. Vang Pao would go on to become a General in 1965, and to this day is revered by the Hmong people. 150,000 Hmong came to the U.S. as refugees after the war. Today there are about 200,000 Hmong spread all across the USA. Reproduced on museum quality archival paper stock, each 18.5"x34" print is individually hand signed by the artist and is offered at $65 each. An edition of 100 signed and numbered artist proofs is available for $150. A series of 50 Giclee prints measuring 23"x40" will be available for $495 each. A portion of the proceeds from
print sales will go toward Hmong causes. - Major Credit Cards Accepted You can also download a printable flyer that contains all of this information here: Printable Flyer for "Upcountry Meeting
